Assessments

Body Composition Assessment

Measurements include height, weight waist circumference, hip circumference, chest, arms, and thighs. We calculate your body mass index (BMI), and waist-to-hip-ratio. These measurements can reveal if you are at risk of developing chronic ailments such as Type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Results will provide a benchmark to evaluate your progress related to your fitness level.

Fitness Assessment

Based on a protocol developed by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology – Physical Activity Training for Health (PATH), components measured include heart rate and blood pressure, body composition, musculoskeletal fitness, flexibility, and estimated aerobic capacity. Results will provide valuable information for the development of your training program.

Assessment of Mood

Mens sana in corpore sano (“a healthy mind in a healthy body”). Our ability to adhere to health behaviors can be influenced by mood; and physical activity has been shown to improve one’s mood. By monitoring the fluctuation of your mood stats, we can tailor the program specifically to your needs.

Assessment of Body Image

Using a questionnaire with validated and reliable psychometric properties, we will identify which body areas are of concern to you. Results will provide valuable information for the development of your weight management and training program.

Hello, everyone!

My name is Holly, I am a small business owner. I am 43, and I used to be a heavy smoker.

A huge disadvantage of being self-employed is not being able to cater to yourself on time, every time. That was one of the reasons why I reached 182 pounds for my 5’8″ height.

Where do you find time for yourself?

Well, probably nowhere, unless you get the professional help from Tennant Solutions Inc.

I refuse to call Gisèle Tennant “my personal trainer” because it would be a great understatement, by far. She is my motivational coach, my advisor, my healthy living specialist, my support.

Here are some facts and numbers:

February 1, 2014.

My first experience in a gym, after a very long time, was a fast-paced aerobics/weights class. I think I sat down for 29 minutes out of 30. I could not last on a treadmill simply walking for more than 5 minutes. A12-pound weight seemed like a million. I was SO OUT of shape. I wore a sweater around my waist to hide my “muffin top”.

April, 2, 2014:

The other day, just for a warm up, I ran for 8.5 minutes at a 5.0 mph speed at 3.5 incline and…  I did not run out of breath! I now do sets of 15 pound biceps curls as they are feathers in my hands. I went to that aerobics class (same as in February) AFTER a weight workout, and, – yep, you guessed it – I never sat down for the whole 30! I am now 167.8 pounds.

I love not having to have a sweater around my waist!

But, the most important thing is -Dr. G. made me believe I can do it! Because every time I thought I’d give up, this petite lady passed another weight to me and said “you can do it!” And I did… And inches and pounds fell off…

Gisèle helped me to develop a proper workout schedule. She also helped me to discover a proper diet, and explained in detail how the calorie count worked. Dr. G. helped me to understand my body. I had been in professional sports most of my life prior to letting myself go, and I never knew how most of that stuff worked!
